12” black vinyl in Brownswood House Bag.
Brownswood Recordings announces the next instalment in its Remix Editions series: Brownswood Remix Editions 011: Louie Vega & The Elements of Life.
A meeting of musical minds rooted in a shared love of club culture, the release brings together two fresh takes from Grammy-winning house music pioneer Louie Vega, reworking tracks by his long-standing collaborators, The Elements of Life. Across two sides, Vega brings his unmistakable touch to the dancefloor, drawing on the deep musicality, soulful expression and rhythmic sensibility that have defined his extraordinary career.
On the A-side, Love From The Sun (Louie Vega's We Out Here Edit) features the unmistakable vocals of Rahsaan Patterson and Cindy Mizelle, reimagined through Vega's distinctive lens. Flip over for People Make The World Go Round (Louie Vega Brownswood Vamp Dub), featuring the legendary Dee Dee Bridgewater, a particularly special moment for Brownswood, and an honour for the label to bring this recording to a new audience.
For Brownswood founder Gilles Peterson, the release brings together a personal favourite from recent DJ sets and a long-standing admiration for one of dance music's most tireless innovators.
“My most requested unshazamable tune from the last 12 months is finally available.”
Reflecting on his relationship with Vega and his enduring influence on club culture, Gilles adds:
“Oh this guy... Louie Vega... there's 2 people who I look to as the hardest working in the game... Bluey and Louie... they never stop!
I've known Louis properly since I worked with him and Kenny Dope on Nuyorican Soul... always curious and a deep champion of club culture - MAW were the foundation of quality dance music that continue to inspire us all to this day - I must have listened to Louie DJ hundred of times!! ”
A true leader in global dance music, Louie Vega has built an award-winning career across house, salsa, Afro-beat, jazz, hip hop, gospel and soul. A Grammy Award winner and seven-time nominee, Vega is celebrated not only for his production work but also for his ability to evolve with the times, absorb new musical influences and channel them into a sound that remains unmistakably his own.
As one half of the seminal Masters At Work alongside Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, Vega has helped shape the foundations of contemporary dance music, leaving an indelible mark on generations of producers, DJs and dancers. His work continues to connect musical worlds, bringing the spirit of live musicianship and deep-rooted soul to the dancefloor.
With Brownswood Remix Editions 011, that spirit finds a natural home: two sides of timeless music, reimagined by one of house music's most enduring forces, and pressed to 12-inch vinyl for the selectors and collectors who keep these sounds alive.
