After the success of our birthday party in November we thought what better excuse to throw another party in Canvas than Record Store Day on Saturday the 18th of April, 7PM-Late.
The tickets are for guestlist so just say your name on the door for entry.
After some shenanigans in shop before hand (we highly recommend popping in, we're having a party there as well from 10AM-6PM) we've invited some very talented old and new faces to spin tunes in CRYOSAUNA, WeAreNotRobots and Teddy Hannan who'll join boss man Tom Le Freak plus we've got digital genius e.s.p. providing the visuals once again.
First up we have young Edinburgh based DJ/producer CRYOSAUNA to kick us aff. His album 'Restless' released on Pure Life in 2020 has been a best seller in the shop (There's one copy left if you want it) so we're buzzing to have him along for what will be his Dundee debut on the decks. 'Restless' is considered a Dreampunk classic in scene, marrying Tangerine Dream-esque ambient, and Burial's dystopian and atmospheric garage-y beats so expect something similar from his set. Get there early so you don't miss him!
WeAreNotRobots are the legendary local DJ duo comprised of Dave Stewart and Kevin West. The pair ran the barnstorming club night BLEEP at the sadly missed Reading Room, inviting DJs from across the globe to grace Dundee. BLEEP emerged in the heyday of Electro House and French Touch with the sounds of Justice, BOYS NOIZE, Daft Punk and Soulwax booming through the brick walls of the 'Rooms. They also graced the Darkroom stream recently so if you want a taste of what's to come check out their set on the YouTubes. The duo don't play often nowadays so catch them while can!
Last but not least, old friend of the shop Teddy Hannan goes back to back with owner Tom for a big 'ol knees up at the end. Teddy was also part of the BLEEP crew and ran his own club night Phazed for many moons at the 'Rooms. The pair are also part of the Le Freak & Friends DJ squad, who are the brains behind the infamous Pier Party in Newport and previously threw parties all over the country, and even supported the one and only Andrew Weatherall (a real highlight!).
